The skin textures were Frankensteined together from the work of more talented creators because my own from-scratch attempts were less than satisfactory. The faces are M.Calero's Strawberry and the bodies are Navetsea's F-IN01 Non-Barbie. The male bodies have light body hair so I might swap those out when EA gives us body hair options, but for now I appreciate the added detail. If you use default replacement male bottoms with attached genitals like the ones from DBCAB, these skins also use part of Oykawoo's textures so your Sims' penii won't look like the're made of Play-Doh.
The only actual changes I made to these skins was to desaturate the base textures of the lighter files so the original rosy shades wouldn't shine through as much, and then cobble them all together. Click for larger images (especially the last two, which show a whooooole bunch of full-body pics to illustrate the range of new shade possibilities). In each image, the top rows show EA skins and colors while the bottom rows show mine. It's the same model in every shot, shown wearing default replacement eyes, default hair and brows, and no makeup. More on her later.
If you want to know what the non-pictured skin textures look like (as I only show distant pics of a one age/gender, since these pictures were designed only to show the colors), please see the original creators' download pages for larger, more detailed images of the textures. Since the extent of my actual artistic work on these skins was simply messing with the colors and packaging them up, I don't want it to look like I'm taking credit for anyone else's hard work. If you know how, or even if you don't but you're feeling adventurous, I'd recommend that you download these from the creators themselves, desaturate them with your favorite graphics editor and package them together with S3PE or a related program. You'll end up with the same thing I have here. I'm just sharing these in a bundle.
I did, however, make the new skintone ramps myself. These include all six of the EA fleshtones and fantasy tones, but less garish. At first glance they might seem to be very similar to one another (the natural colors, anyway), but they still retain the neutral, gold and red undertones that the originals had, just more muted so the whole range from light to dark would look completely natural. They also start considerably lighter and go a bit darker, too, so the overall range of realistic skintones that you can achieve is actually quite a bit larger. The fantasy colors are more subdued as well, and even if I can't say they're more "natural," I do think they look a lot earthier. The lightest shade can be used on regular Sims and the dark colors are no longer Crayola-bright. Just be aware that, as with any ramps, they are semi-transparent and some of the underlying texture colors still show through.
The default nude bottoms are the only part of this bundle that I didn't have my hands in at all. These were created by DBCAB, and replace the nude bottom meshes for males aged teen, (young) adult and elder. Note that it's recolorable but that it takes on the colors of the Sim's shoes so you probably don't ever want to use shoes on a pantless male.
The nude clothing separates, which add pieces to all categories and ages where nude separates did not already exist, reference these new meshes along with all the base-game nude meshes. Sims can walk around nude, or you can just use these to check out skins and tattoos in CAS. I won't tell anyone either way. I made these because the only other sets that I could find in the community were random-enabled and caused half-naked townies to spawn in highly inappropriate places. That can be funny but rather spoils the sense of realistic immersion at times. It's also bad because of that penis mesh, due to the fact that randomly pantless-but-shoe-wearing men look very odd with strangely colored naughty bits flapping in the breeze.
(If you use Whiterider's fix for disappearing teen and elder muscle/breast detail, you'll need to use the bottomless version if you want to use the penises!)
I also made the easy part of the face overlays, which was to remove the hideous lip overlays that EA felt the need to slap on teen through elder females. The rest of the overlay includes Escand's gorgeous Tiffany Glaze eyes (a smaller iris/pupil eye which I have used since shortly after the game came out and have not yet been able to replace with anything better) and Aikea's teeth. Another set without the overly can be had by MissBonBon. The picture of the teeth looks really crappy and blurry but in-game they look a lot more real.
The eyes are lighter than the defaults so they can be very vivid and actually pick up on more underlying colors. If you add just the tiniest hint of green or glue or red to the RGB values, it will show up a lot more and give you a wider range of colors to work with. The detail tends to be realistic without being overly detailed. Like the skins, I've pictured them in the exact same colors/shades when compared to the EA versions. I chose to include the teeth and eyes along with the lips because the overlay is all one piece. If you try to use the lip fix alone, other default eyes and/or teeth are rendered inoperable.
My model started as a male teen from the default bin that I gender swapped and aged up to young adult, with no changes made to the facial or body sculpts; I wanted to show how the skin looks on a generic Sim of ambiguous ethnicity and unremarkable build. She's pictured makeup free; I did alter her original eye color so they weren't such an odd reddish shade, but her hair is the base game pixie cut in default black.
I apologize for the crappy nature of the screenshots, as I run in windowed mode on Windows 7, my graphics aren't the greatest, and I didn't feel like doing any fancy Photoshop work because I am lazy. Color comparison shots are from inside CAS for now, for the same reason.
